Betty

Our first call to help was provided to us by the Wall Fire Department. They connected us to Mrs. Betty and her family. It has been over a week and since the storms and we were the first outside help they had seen. Within 45 minutes, they received 14 inches of rain in Lone Creek, KY. Betty and her 10 year old granddaughter were trapped inside of her home, two feet of water came in so quickly. Betty’s son-in-law Clayton, lives up the hill about 20 feet and watched the water rise over a matter of minutes. The current was so strong he couldn’t get down to them despite endless efforts. Thankfully no one was injured, but the damage to her home is extensive. We spent the day salvaging personal belongings, removing waterlogged furniture from the home, and clearing heavy debris along with a lifelong collection of memories. The skid steer helped level the drive way that had been washed away. Tomorrow, we go back to muck the drywall and help clear the remaining items left in the home. Mrs. Betty has lived on this property with her family for 35 years and has never experienced such immense devastation.   This is only one family’s story, there are countless more.
