STORY OF A DONATION
He and his wife purchased the stove over 20 years ago for their new kitchen in Louisiana. As it turns out the stop top was too big. Finding its place in the garage, it made the move with them to Chattanooga, TN… where they had hoped to build a house and use the stove. As life would have it, that did not happen either. Joe and his wife recently donated the stove top to the American Haitian Foundation Garage Sale. A garage sale that sponsors a school in Haiti that was built in 1992. They currently feed over 1200 students in Haiti. The American Haitian Foundation learned about the work RISE was doing in Eastern Kentucky.
They donated the stove along with kitchenware, clothing, bedding, and other various household items to our supply drive. One of our volunteers Joanne kindly offered to collect supplies from other organizations and drive a UHAUL packed full to Jackson, KY. The Bachman Community Center, Signal Mountain Clothes House and Lone Oak Community Center all located in Signal Mountain, TN were all very gracious with supplying items for our distribution event.
